The combat system requires the player to pay attention to the position of the characters in battle. The player explores towns, wilderness, and complex dungeons of the game from first-person perspective, fighting enemies in turn-based combat. The system is quite advanced with weapons and armours that could break during combat, while resting your watch may fall asleep and either you will be surprised by monsters or find that part of your equipment has been stolen. Legend of Faerghail is a role-playing game with an interface similar to that of The Bard's Tale series. There are a lot of different items and you will spend good time with optimising your characters. ![]() Other than that the graphics and sound really add to the atmosphere, it is very rewarding to raise in levels and improve you characters and the environments and monster types are well varied. This makes it very different from Wizardry VII for example. If you really like a challenge and housekeeping your resources all the steps this game is not for you. That the game is too easy combatwise is its weakest spot. But the combination of a complex both being reset when revisited and that you could run from every fight is not a good gaming balance. That at least would force you to either use your potions (I have never used any) or be more cautious. Well I'll try to scour my brain for more details if I can remember any.If I could change something I would add much higher risk of being attacked while resting because rest you will have too. There were alot of glitches that I remember. In this RPG the quest of the player as the warrior, with the help of up to five other characters, is to free the kingdom of Faerghail and release the tormented souls of the elf civilization. The story slowly comes alive as you explore eight dungeons scattered across 27 outdoor maps of this sprawling land. There was also this stone with a sword in it out there somewhere, and the stone was inscribed with something like "whoever pulls the sword from this stone shall never see england's throne". Faerghail is a German adventure that commences in the mythical land of Thynn, whose Duke despatches your party of six to quell an uprising of Elves in league with the Devil. So when you go out into the world area, all the monsters look like gray monks and when they run into you or you run into them, it goes to a different screen where you see what kind of monster it is and fight it from there. ![]() If you tried to steal from the tavern and got caught, sometimes they'd cut your guy's hand off. You would start the game at this outpost thing, where you could learn languages, buy stuff, and a bunch of other stuff. This was the first RPG I ever played and I looked through several pages on this site and others for a recognizable screenshot, but haven't had luck yet.Īnyways, the title screen had a giant red dragon, I think fighting some little warrior guy with the game's title somewhere in the mix.
